PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a robot system allowing a communication device to control a robot via a network even when the communication device previously has no robot information, and the robot used in the robot system.

SOLUTION: The robot system 100 comprises the communication device 130 connectable with the network 110 and the robot 120 connectable with the network. The robot 120 comprises a storage section 124 for storing characteristic data indicating robot feature and a communication section 122 for transmitting the characteristic data to the communication device. The communication device 130 comprises a communication section 132 for transmitting a request signal to the robot, a storage section 134 for storing the characteristic data acquired from the request signal and the robot, and an operation section 138 for selecting a desired command from the characteristic data.
